Want to attend this year’s VIZIO Fiesta Bowl? It’ll cost you, as the Arizona Wildcats’ appearance has led to steep ticket prices online.

Forbes magazine’s Jesse Lawrence said the No. 10 Wildcats, who are set to meet the No. 20 Boise State Broncos in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale on Dec. 31, are responsible for driving up ticket demand and, consequently, ticket costs this year.

Lawrence said the average Fiesta Bowl ticket price on PrimeSport.com is $213, making it the second most expensive Fiesta Bowl ticket of the last five years. Only the Jan. 3, 2013 game between the No. 5 Oregon Ducks and No. 7 Kansas State Wildcats was more expensive in the last half-decade.

Lawrence said UA’s close proximity to the bowl site — the campus is located just 131 miles southeast of University of Phoenix Stadium — has much to do with that.

Ticket prices are undoubtedly being driven north thanks to the following in Tucson. This is the first time Arizona has made it to the Fiesta Bowl since 1993 and by far the best bowl invitation they have had in the past two decades. Arizona had a chance to make it to the College Football Playoff had they beaten Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship, but even with the loss, the fan base is very content with this season’s performance.

The Wildcats earned the first Fiesta Bowl bid since Jan. 1, 1994, after winning 10 games and securing their first-ever Pac-12 South championship.
