The Arizona Coyotes hired John Slaney as an assistant coach, the organization announced Wednesday.
“We are pleased to add John to our coaching staff,” Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said in a statement. “John has done a good job developing our young prospects in the American Hockey League and he will continue to do similar work here in Arizona.”
Slaney is entering his fifth season in the Coyotes organization, having spent the last four years as an assistant coach with the Portland Pirates of the AHL.
The former NHL defenseman played for the then-Phoenix Coyotes in 1997-98, compiling 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in 55 games. He finished with 91 points (22 goals, 69 assists) in 268 career NHL games for seven teams.
