...

It was an evening of returns Wednesday in San Diego.

One day after outfielder A.J. Pollock returned to the Arizona Diamondbacks’ lineup following a three-month layoff, pitcher Daniel Hudson (elbow) made his first appearance for the D-backs since June 2012, while infielder Chris Owings (shoulder) made his first start since July 25 and outfielder Cody Ross (calf) had his first at-bat since July 21.

All three men had success, and pitcher Josh Collmenter allowed one earned run in seven innings to give the D-backs a 6-1 win over the San Diego Padres.

Here’s a closer look at the D-backs’ victory, as well as their returning players, by the numbers:

2

Owings and Ross combined to go 2-for-5 on Wednesday. Owings singled and scored in the first inning and added a sacrifice fly in the ninth, while Ross contributed a pinch-hit single in the ninth.

3

Collmenter has gone three consecutive starts with one or fewer runs allowed, lowering his season ERA to 3.81.

8

The Diamondbacks broke an eight-game road losing streak Wednesday night in San Diego.

9

Outfielder David Peralta’s first-inning triple was his ninth of the season. It drove in Owings to give the D-backs their first run of the game.

799

It was 799 days — two years, two months and eight days — between MLB appearances for Hudson. The former ace, who went 16-12 with a 3.49 ERA for Arizona in 2011, threw a perfect eighth inning on 13 pitches Wednesday.
