Scheduled relief on its way for Diamondbacks

Jul 5, 2013, 4:13 AM | Updated: 7:29 pm

On Thursday, the Arizona Diamondbacks wrapped up a four-game series with the New York Mets at Citi Field — the final stop on the team’s 10-game road trip.

The series consisted of 46 innings of baseball, a handful of injuries, and four blown saves.

Now, after that and a 3-7 road trip, the Diamondbacks are finally headed back to Chase Field, where they’ll play the vast majority of their upcoming games.

Twenty four of their previous 33 games were played on the road, but 25 of their next 33 games will be home games. In fact, 41 of their final 72 games will be at home, with just one 10-game road trip remaining on the schedule.

So far this season, the Diamondbacks are five games above .500 at home, at 21-16. On the road, they’re two games below .500, at 23-25.

Six of the 10 games on the upcoming homestand are against divisional foes, with the Diamondbacks hosting the Rockies this weekend and the Dodgers on Monday.

The All-Star break, another point of relief for the embattled team, will follow the homestand.
