Willie Bloomquist’s injured hand feeling better

Jun 29, 2013, 6:46 PM | Updated: 6:51 pm

Arizona Diamondbacks’ infielder Willie Bloomquist said his injured hand is making considerable progress, according to the team’s website.

Bloomquist was hit in the left hand by a pitch Wednesday night. X-rays were negative, but he had considerable pain and swelling.

The 35-year-old infielder woke up Friday in his hotel in Atlanta with his hand feeling much better. He was able to play catch Friday, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com, but he was not able to swing a bat yet.

Bloomquist is considered day-to-day.

The D-backs must be convinced (of his recovery), because instead of putting Bloomquist on the disabled list to make room for Eric Chavez, they designated Eric Hinske for assignment.
