New Phoenix Sun Brandon Knight: By the Numbers

The Phoenix Suns traded for Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Knight on Thursday in a deal that saw them part with Miles Plumlee and Tyler Ennis as well as the first-round draft pick owed to them by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Knight is in the middle of his fourth season and will be joining his third team in that span. The Detroit Pistons, who drafted him 8th overall in 2011, traded him in the summer of 2013 to the Bucks for Brandon Jennings.

Here’s the newest Suns guard, by the numbers.

At 17.8 points per game, Knight led the Bucks in scoring, and it wasn’t even close. The next closest Buck to that average was Jabari Parker, who averaged 12.3 PPG but has not played since Dec. 15 and is out for the season. Knight is averaging more points per game this season than any Suns player. In his career, Knight has averaged 15.3 PPG.

Knight also led the Bucks in assists per game with 5.4. The next closest player on his team was Jerryd Bayless, with 3.1. Only Eric Bledsoe averaged more APG for the Suns in the first 54 games at 5.9.

Another category Knight would lead the Suns in this season is free throw shooting, from where he is successful at a .881 clip. It is his best season shooting from the stripe, up from the .802 he posted last year, his previous best.

The new addition brings the Suns’ total of former Kentucky Wildcats to three, as he is joining Eric Bledsoe and Archie Goodwin. The Suns are the only team in the NBA with three players from Kentucky.
