Suns sending Morris twins to represent organization in 2014 NBA Draft Lottery

May 16, 2014, 9:00 PM | Updated: 9:00 pm

The Phoenix Suns have a 1.8 percent chance of moving up into the top-three of the 2014 NBA Draft Lottery.

Currently slotted in the No. 14 position, if the Suns were somehow to get a ping ball or two to go their way, they would leapfrog over the team in front of them, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The importance of that jump would be huge for Ryan McDonough and Co., as the Timberwolves owe the Suns a first-round pick dating back to the three-team trade that sent two second-rounders to Minnesota, Robin Lopez to the New Orleans Pelicans and Wesley Johnson to Phoenix in July 2012.

The T-Wolves’ first-round pick is only top-13 protected.

While Suns president of basketball operations Lon Babby has been the organization’s representative of choice lately when it comes to the draft lottery, the team is sending what it hopes are its two good luck charms to the Big Apple: Markieff and Marcus Morris, who were taken No. 13 and No. 14 respectively in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Phoenix already owns the No. 18 and No. 27 pick in the draft.

The lottery will air Tuesday night at 5:00 p.m. Arizona time on ESPN.
