By The Numbers: Suns outlast Nuggets in overtime

The last time the Phoenix Suns were in Denver, they went to halftime with a 14-point deficit, but rallied to win, thanks to a 31-point fourth quarter.

On Tuesday, their contest at the Pepsi Center had much last drastic swings, but yielded the same result.

The Nuggets kept things close and took a lead into the fourth quarter, but the two teams found themselves tied up at the end of regulation.

And in overtime, the Suns’ star of the night, Gerald Green, carried them, scoring six of the team’s 13 to secure a 112-107 win.

Here’s a closer look at the win, by the numbers:

0

The Nuggets failed to get a win against the Suns this season, losing all four games against their conference foe. The Suns outscored the Nuggets by 33 over the course of the four games.

2

Suns rookie center Alex Len recorded his first multi-block game on Tuesday, swatting twice in his nine minutes of floor time.

6

Suns center Miles Plumlee fouled out in the fourth quarter, getting his sixth and final personal foul call on a questionable block against Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried. Plumlee played just 22 minutes, going 1-for-5 from the field and grabbing eight rebounds, two points, a steal and an assist.

11

Suns forward P.J. Tucker gathered 11 rebounds during the contest to go along with 13 points. He was one of three Suns to record double-doubles on the night.

12

In 42 minutes, Suns forward Markieff Morris, who came off the bench, filled the stat sheet on Tuesday, grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with 13 points, three steals, two assists and a block. Morris’ 42 minutes were also tied for the most in the game.

14

The third double-doubler for the Suns, Goran Dragic, dished a season-high 14 assists in the win. He added 21 points, a trio of steals and five rebounds to the effort, while tying Markieff Morris for the most minutes played in the game.

35

The Nuggets’ Faried (no. 35) tied a season-high in points, with 21, while adding 10 rebounds to his double-double effort. Only Evan Fournier (25 points) outscored him among those dressed in yellow and blue on Tuesday.

36

The aforementioned Green tallied a career-high 36 points for the Suns, hitting six three-pointers and going 8-for-8 from the foul line. He recorded a +28 plus-minus measure in the game, adding five rebounds to his stat line. Though playing just 30 minutes — less than four other Suns — Green put up 22 shots and hit 11 of them.
