The Pulse: Trading Michael Floyd is a dicey proposition

May 8, 2015, 9:52 AM | Updated: 9:53 am

It’s a rumor that just won’t go away.

Supposedly, the Arizona Cardinals may have interest in trading Michael Floyd.

Wednesday, GM Steve Keim told Doug & Wolf that while he is willing to listen to offers for all of his players, he is not making or receiving calls on Floyd.

“We still have expectations for him. He’s got to improve from a consistency standpoint,” he said. “Michael’s made some big plays for us over the years, and we expect nothing less this year.”

If only it were that easy.

The Cardinals picked up the fifth-year option on the former first-round pick’s contract last week, meaning he is set to be in Arizona through the 2016 season.

But what kind of receiver do the Cardinals have?

In 2013, he looked like a potential number one, catching 65 passes for 1,041 yards and five touchdowns. However, he regressed in 2014, catching just 47 passes for 841 yards and six scores.

At 25, Floyd’s best years could still be ahead of him. The question is, should those years come in a Cardinals uniform?

That was essentially what we asked you, our readers, in our Sanderson Ford Poll Question of the Day, and the answers were fairly mixed.

A total of 878 votes were submitted, and the majority (352) would be on board with the Cardinals dealing the former Notre Dame Star “only if they get a great offer.”

The next highest vote total was 285, and it went toward keeping Floyd, because “he could still improve.”
