In the waning moments of the Atlanta Falcons’ 29-18 win over the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday, Arizona quarterback Drew Stanton connected on a 23-yard pass over the middle to Jaron Brown.
At the tail end of the play, Brown was walloped by Atlanta safety William Moore. The hit drew a loud reaction from Falcons fans in attendance at the Georgia Dome, but didn’t draw a flag from the officials.
Thursday, Moore told the Atlanta media that he had been fined $22,050 by the NFL for the hit.
The veteran says he plans to appeal the fine.
“I don’t know if I even have a voice in it. All I can do is appeal it,” Moore said. “Do I disagree? Yes. Do I dislike it? Yes. I don’t feel like that was a fine. But I would like for us to be able to play real football.”
Moore was fined nearly $75,000 for illegal hits last season.
