Grand Canyon guard Joshua Braun has been recognized as the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 15-21, the conference announced Monday.
The redshirt freshman averaged 18.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game during the week, helping GCU to a 2-1 record during that span. The 6-foot-4 guard shot an impressive 66.7 percent from the field, including 54.3 from behind the three-point line, during those three games.
Braun’s biggest night was on Dec. 17 in a loss to Incarnate Word, as he shot 8-for-11 and finished with a career-high 22 points. Two days earlier, he pulled down a career-best eight rebounds in a victory over Bethune-Cookman.
The Anthem, Arizona, native scored in double-figures in all three games last week, and he has done so five times this season.
GCU currently stands second in the WAC with a 6-7 record. The Antelopes next face the 8-3 New Mexico Lobos on Tuesday in Phoenix.
