Gloves, hats, popcorn buckets and of course bare hands. Fans have long found creative ways to flag down foul balls in the stands.
You can now add beer bucket to the list after Saturday’s action.
Earl Chaney, a beer vendor at Citizens Bank Park since 2004, was minding his own business in the bottom of the sixth inning when Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz sent a screaming liner into the seats down the right field line.
It turns out Chaney’s blue plastic container was in the right place at the right time, as the ball promptly dropped in — much to the delight of the stadium’s spectators.
“I didn’t mean to do it at all,” Chaney said in an interview with Comcast Sportsnet. “I was trying to get out of the way, and it was just there.”
Accidental or on purpose, Chaney’s snag was easily the best one you’ll see all day.
