Phoenix Suns announce roster for NBA Summer League in Las Vegas
The Phoenix Suns have announced their roster for the NBA's Summer League in Las Vegas.

The Phoenix Suns have announced their roster for the NBA’s Summer League in Las Vegas.

The roster includes six players drafted by the team: Dragan Bender, Marquese Chriss, Josh Jackson are the first-round picks while Alec Peters, Davon Reed and Tyler Ulis were selected in the second round. Peters and Ulis are injured and will not play.
Returning to the Suns’ summer league team for a second stint are Bender, Chriss, Mike James, David Stockton and Ulis. Stockton played for the team in 2014 while James participated the following year in 2015.
Suns assistant coach and player development coordinator Marlon Garnett will serve as head coach.
Jackson and James both officially signed with the team Monday.
The Suns begin summer league play in Las Vegas on Friday against the Sacramento Kings at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

The most intriguing prospect on this squad is 21 year-old former UNLV standout Christian Wood. He is probably a shade under 6'-11" with shoes on and has a wingspan a tad bit longer than 7'-3". I believe while he is still "lanky" he is now up to a solid 220#.
A two-year player at UNLV he was expected to be a late 1st rd pick or early 2nd rd selection in 2015. Instead he went undrafted. Philly signed him as an undrafted free-agent and he played mostly with their D league team.
He spent last season with Charlotte and their D league team. He is similar to former Suns and fellow UNLV alumni Shawn Marion athletically and defensively. He has a high motor and a similar "pogo-stick" quick jumping ability to the ball.
He allegedly has a nice stroke with three-point range but apparently is still lacking in basketball IQ as it relates to decision-making (taking horrible shots).
He would only cost Phoenix $1.6 million on a veteran minimum and of course a roster spot. But he would be the opposite of Alan Williams and Alec Peters in terms of a guy who can get up and down the court blocking shots from behind and catching lobs at the basket.
I am looking forward to seeing Devon Reed play. I hope he makes Suns roster. He's 6-6 and plays defense. I like him already.
