Franz’s 2013 NFL Power Poll – Week 10

Nov 7, 2013, 11:36 PM | Updated: Apr 28, 2015, 2:00 pm

1) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (1): Defense and special teams have as many TDs as Jacksonville…take all the time you need on the bye week so we get a classic next week in Denver.

2) INDINAPOLIS COLTS (2): Luck has more 4th Quarter/OT comebacks in his first two years as a pro than anyone and still has eight games to play…gained 211 fewer yards than their opponents.

3) DENVER BRONCOS (3): Strange week with not one but two difficult situations to remain focused on the Chargers.

4) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (4): Have allowed 130 yards rushing/game since Vince Wilfork injury…amazing Brady has no receivers with 500 yards but seven with at least 100.

5) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (5): Going into last weekend, Seattle had never been 8-1 or come back from a 21-point deficit, now they’ve done both…one of only three teams holding offenses to less than 300 yards.

6) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (7): If you’re first in rushing and last in passing, you end up 16th in total offense…tough two weeks, Carolina’s hot and coming to town before a trip to New Orleans.

7) NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (6): A little concerning that a Brees led offense only converts 41 percent of third downs…complete organizational failure for this coaching staff and roster to lose to the Jets.

8) DETROIT LIONS (8): Maybe he should reconsider and go for 120 hours to improve the 25th-ranked defense…going for a sweep of Chicago only makes this the biggest regular season game since the Fontes era.

9) CHICAGO BEARS (11): Pretty important game for them too to not give up the tie-breaker…Trestman has completely changed the culture for the better (2nd-ranked scoring offense) and for worse (29th in scoring defense).

10) CINCINNATI BENGALS (9): Geno Atkins has started for 2 1/2 years and leads all DTs in forced fumbles and sacks while playing the third-most snaps…looking at the remaining schedule, an 11-win season should be the expectation.

11) GREEN BAY PACKERS (10): Only three games left vs. teams with winning records but all three are on the road…would you be shocked to know only five WRs have more yards than Jordy Nelson?

12) CAROLINA PANTHERS (17): Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, Andrew Luck, Colin Kaepernick, Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco and Eli Manning are all trailing Cam Newton in passing rating…at San Franciso and home against New England will tell us all we needed to know.

13) DALLAS COWBOYS (13): Jason Garrett has only lost once to a team that finished the year below .500 (17-1) and only beaten four teams that have finished at .500 or above (4-19)…quick, name the top five QBs in rating (yes, you need to say Romo.)

14) MIAMI DOLPHINS (15): So will this be filed under voter intimidation or further confuse the story?

15) NEW YORK JETS (18): Nick Folk hasn’t missed a field goal…no streaks all year, winning or losing.

16) ARIZONA CARDINALS (16): 34 WRs and 5 TEs have more receiving yards than Larry Fitzgerald…looks like there are still three more wins left and some “go either way” games.

17) BUFFALO BILLS (14): Feast or famine defense is only ranked 20th but is third in sacks…Manuel is back for this weekend at Pittsburgh but it’s all about running the ball.

18) WASHINGTON REDSKINS (23): Defense allows 88 percent of all fourth down attempts to be converted.

19) TENNESSEE TITANS (19): If they have any chance against Indy, schedule sets up perfectly to get them 1) at home, 2) on a short week Thursday night 3) following a home game to make prep easier on a short week, and 4) get them following Jacksonville which is like an extra bye week.

20) SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (12): Defended 291 straight field goal attempts over the last 11 years without a block and blocked two in the first half against Washington…worst team in football in converting “and goal to go from the one” into TDs.

21) CLEVELAND BROWNS (22): Bye week this week to prepare for chance to get to .500 and sweep first place Cincinnati…gutsy or always trailing? (leads NFL with 19 attempts going for it on fourth down.)

22) ST. LOUIS RAMS (20): Three-game losing streak will become an eight-game streak…very knowledgable defensive head coach to have the 28th-ranked rush defense.

23) BALTIMORE RAVENS (21): 23 QBs have a higher rating than Joe Flacco…32nd in yards/rush.

24) NEW YORK GIANTS (25): Tom Coughlin prides himself on rushing the football and not turning it over…NYG is 32nd in T/O margin at -12 and 30th in yards/rush with 3.2.

25) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (26): Three teams haven’t thrown more TD passes this year than Nick Foles threw last weekend…how can the great Chip Kelly run 44 plays fewer than Buffalo?

26) OAKLAND RAIDERS (24): Defense gave up the same number of TD passes to Foles as the offense has thrown all year…rush offense (fourth) and rush defense (sixth) keeps most games close.

27) ATLANTA FALCONS (27): They’ve got 415 fewer rushing yards than their opponents…most stats say they’re not bad but the -7 turnover margin says they are bad.

28) PITTSBURGH STEELERS (28): They’re 28th in rushing and 31st against the run, that is all.

29) HOUSTON TEXANS (29): This team isn’t coming back from a two-score deficit with all they’ve been through…still ranked as the number one defense.

30) MINNESOTA VIKINGS (30): Christian Ponder’s four rushing TDs lead NFL QBs.

31) TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (31): Almost every offensive statistic carries a “31st” ranking, meaning if it wasn’t for a college team in the Jaguars ranked below you, you’d be last.

32) JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (32): They give up the most points and score the fewest…Florida State has twice as many wins in eight games as the three Florida pro teams have in 24.

In Carson Palmer I trust

Every $19.95 invention grabbed my attention. If I buy now, I can get my offer doubled. However, this offer is not available in stores! From age 5 to 14, almost every time an ad came on TV with an incredible idea, my dad would say, “If the offer is too good to believe, don’t.” Dad, […]

Great does not make Todd Gurley right for the Arizona Cardinals

A completely healthy Todd Gurley will be a great player in the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals should not draft Todd Gurley.
