The Arizona Cardinals signed quarterback Jeff Mathews to their practice squad.

In a corresponding move, the team released linebacker Kion Wilson from the practice squad.

“We liked him coming out,” Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said. “He has a nice arm. He’s got some size about him. It’d be a good future for us.”

The 6-foot-4, 229-pound Mathews entered the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Cornell. He was released Aug. 24 and signed with the Indianapolis Colts one week later. He spent the first week of the season with the Colts but was released Sept. 9.

While in college, Mathews finished as the top passer in school history while setting 47 school records and 18 Ivy League records. He completed 901-of-1,447 passes (62.3 percent) for 11,284 yards with 72 touchdowns in 38 games.
