ESPN Radio's Mike Golic summed up the Arizona Cardinals' quarterback situation rather succinctly.

"It's just horrific and stunning," he told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo Friday.

Golic, whose show "Mike & Mike" poked fun at the Cardinals this week, said he's shocked at how an NFL team could struggle so badly at that position.

But the Cardinals have, and coming off a franchise-worst loss to Seattle, there is speculation that head coach Ken Whisenhunt's job is very much in jeopardy.

That makes sense, according to Golic.

"Something's not working, while we talk about people losing their jobs nobody likes to see anybody lose their job, but something's got to happen," he said. "I mean, at the very least you have to start a list on what quarterback you want in there, and any quarterback at this point is probably going to suffice."

That quarterback, Golic believes, has yet to don a Cardinals uniform.

"The next quarterback that's going to lead the Cardinals to anywhere is not on the roster," he said.

Golic noted that Kevin Kolb has played well at times, but his inability to stay healthy means the Cardinals should find someone else.

"I really think, with how ugly it's been there, it's time for that clean break, clean sweep of the quarterback position and go in another direction," he said.

Mike Golic joins in to discuss the Cardinals getting shutout against the Seahawks, and their poor play in general. They also talk about Notre Dame going into the national championship game, and share a couple thoughts on the Connecticut tragedy.
Everyone agrees the Cardinals must figure out where they're going at what many call the most important position in sports, but as Golic put it, a team that loses 58-0 has more to worry about besides just the QB.

"I don't know how Larry Fitzgerald doesn't have everything in his house be broken from him throwing it against the wall in frustration," he said.

Fitzgerald has caught just six passes for 67 yards over Arizona's last four games, totals that pale in comparison to some of the NFL's other great receivers. That the struggles appear to be out of the receiver's control is, well, disappointing.

"You're wasting such time with such a great player like Larry Fitzgerald," Golic said. "You know, you're not in your prime forever."

    If it was your job.
Here is what bothers me the most about all these comments. Adam would you like to be fired for something beyond your control? What if you were locked into using a certain person or using a certain process, and it was making you fail at your job. Would it be fair for you to be fired? In football right now everyone is talking about how good Andrew Luck is, yet he is only completeing 55% of his passes and for Dec he is at 50%. What would his stats be on the Cardinals? I would say a lot worse in fact you would probably say he should go with all the other QB's on this team.

If your in charge of hiring, and make personnel decisions that actively bury your company; the company has a right to part ways with you.

I agree but we are talking about the QB's. The Coaches are in control not the players they should answer for the problems.

Has anyone ask: Why Skelton has regressed so badly. The current Cardinal offensive coaching staff would ruin Peyton Mannings career.

Coach gets fired.... Andy Reid gets fired too and hired by the Cards.... Kolb does well in his old coached system.... option A) We give up our number 3(1rd)draft pick for 2 late round picks and pick up a left tackel and a guard or B) pick up Texas A&M stud Luke Joecke 3 -5 pick in the draft. Everyone is taking about AP amazing comeback but they forget that MINNY draft Matt Kalie out of USC and he is a force. A new free safety, running back and we can win the west NEXT year.

Rod Graves is the GM and in charge of hiring and making personnel decisions regarding talent acquisition. Whiz works with what Rod gives him. That's how football operations work.

Right? What HC would let a GM take non talented players against his will? Could you see Tomlin or Harbaugh doing so? If thats the case we need a new coach. Some people are so used to bad teams in the valley. That type of thinking is why the Cardinals will not move forward, we have a great stadium lets keep it full.

    Whiz Controls Player Personnel
It's been talked about a lot in the media the last couple of weeks that Whiz is in charge of player and coach personnel decisions, not Graves. They (media) have said it's written in Whiz's contract. True that Whiz has to work with the $$'s that the Bidwills give him but he's in control of what players are acquired. Normally, the GM would be in charge of that (with the coaching staff input) but not on this team... unless you look at Whiz as the de facto GM.

you are incorrect there. As Lee A has stated, Graves is the business side that negotiates the contract. It is Whiz and Keim that evaluate talent and make the personel calls.
