As if an eight-game skid following a 4-0 start isn't infuriating enough, how about a championship-caliber defense being wasted on this alleged offense the Arizona Cardinals are force feeding their fans on a weekly basis?

Two weeks ago, the Cardinals defense forced six turnovers only to fall short in Atlanta. On Sunday against the Jets, Ray Horton's unit came up with four more takeaways, including three interceptions (to go along with three sacks) against a hapless and ultimately benched Mark Sanchez.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, Greg McElroy proved to be the difference maker for the Jets, throwing the go-ahead touchdown pass on the first play of the fourth quarter.

I could spend the remainder of this column ripping the Cardinals offense. I could talk about how they only mustered five first downs and 137 yards of total offense. I could crack lame jokes about how they were 0-for-15 on third down conversions, or how according to ESPN Stats & Info, rookie Ryan Lindley was just the second quarterback since the merger to throw for less than 75 yards with at least 30 pass attempts. Lindley was 10-of-31 for 72 yards and an interception. I could also point the spotlight on a ground attack that mustered 81 yards -- 40 of which came on run by safety Rashad Johnson on a fake point -- against the league's 30th ranked rushing defense. But we're past the point of pointing fingers aren't we?

What's needed are solutions, and unfortunately the only solution I can offer this season is to get Kevin Kolb back on the field as soon as he's healthy enough to go.

Sorry John Skelton fans, Ken Whisenhunt made it crystal clear after the game that Skelton wasn't an option today and doesn't appear to be one going forward.

"You always do what you think gives you the best chance," Whisenhunt said. "That's what we did."

Ouch.

Kolb is the only quarterback on this roster that gives the Cardinals the best chance to win. They're 4-2 in games in which he's played this season, and at this point I don't think anyone in that locker room would disagree with starting him.

Aside from avoiding a 12-game losing streak to finish the season, the Cardinals also need Kolb back to see if he's their guy going forward into next season.

I have maintained all along that the Cardinals would have been fighting for a playoff spot if Kolb had managed to stay healthy. Based on how he started the season, I believe the losses to the Vikings, Falcons, Rams and Jets would have gone the other direction. That's obviously a huge "but."

Kolb has had trouble staying on the field the last two seasons, which must also be taken into consideration.

These next four weeks should be an audition for every offensive player not named Larry Fitzgerald, and every coach not named Ray Horton.

The quote of the season came from Fitzgerald following the 7-6 loss Sunday.

"You gotta laugh to keep from crying," the All-Pro wideout said.

There may be several grown men crying about a month from now.

I believe it is time for Whiz, Grimm & Miller to move on. If this is the case we must keep Horton at any means possible even if it means making him the Head Coach.

    Vote the Bidwells out!
Wisenhunt is the greatest coach in the history of the franchise's move to Arizona, and yet he will take the fall for the ownership's failure to secure a Quarterback to replace Warner. "Don't worry, (insert name of any Cardinals Quarterback who was not Kurt Warner) will be fine!" says ownership (and some fans who probably don't believe it), and yet Warner gave us 2 winning seasons, 2 division titles, and a conference title. The NFL is a quarterback's league. Until Bowtie Bidwell figures that out, it'll be a long time before January football comes to Arizona again.

    Who's jumping off the bandwagon???
Just because fans call for a change at QB or Head Coach doesn't mean we're not fans of the Cards? I'm a true cards fan always have...always will...win/or lose. I don't care what professional team in sports,(Yankees, Lakers, Cowboys)they're fans too have called for changes in the Lineups/Coaching changes at various points of their existence. So what makes you/them any different?

Bring the losses - higher pick in 2013 Draft
I don't expect the Cardinals to win another game. 3 of the 4 games left are against very good defenses in SEA, SF, and CHI. 4-12 should get us into the top 6 draft picks, we are currently 10th at 4 wins. We need a stud OL in 2013 draft, preferably OT: Luke Joeckel / Chance Womack (G) / Taylor Lewan / Jake Matthews / DJ Fluker Lombardi can't make our OL and QBs work. Fire Grimm, Fire Graves

    If they lose Horton
it's going to be a long long rebuilding effort. They truly need to promote Horton and fire graves and everyone else (except for the strength coach). This way they can continue building a better defense. They have his system down and are getting better. If they lose horton then who knows what the next 5 seasons have in store....

    QB not the only problem
Coach Wiz's stubborn streak (QB's, assistant coaches, etc.) coupled with a GM that is not a player personnel guy has got the Cardinals right where they probably should be; near the bottom of the pack. News Flash.....This is not Pittsburgh; not every franchise should be run like Pittsburgh; get a player personnel VP and let Rod Graves run the business side as GM.

    FIRE MILLER
That was SOOOO amazingly bad to watch. That was THE most ridiculous offense I have ever seen - including my 5 year old's flag football debute. If that doesn't get the OC fired there is no hope for this team. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE

    EPIC / Historically BAD!
Sunday easily marked my low point as a Cards fan, was a complete joke or circus if you will. Coach Wiz has clearly lost the locker room and all remaining fan respect. Warner / Hailey deserve a great deal of credit for the success this team enjoyed under his watch. Coach Ray probably going to get consideration as a HC this off-season, I suggest promoting Ray, let Wiz go since the only thing functioning correctly on this team the D anyhow. The Cards offense in a complete rebuilding process, hire a solid OC and GM get this thing done already!!!

better watch what you wish for
Would all you guys hoping for Kolb to come back please stop. Or do you want top see him setting on injured reserve, Because that's what is gonna happen, he's way to concussion prone to risk playing. LEAVE HIM WHERE HE IS ON THE SIDELINES. Let him stay healthy so we can get rid of him Play Skelton he's not the answer but is better than having 10 mil a year setting on injured reserve where you can't get rid of it . And you know the defenses are just aching to get after Kolb with his hurt ribs. I for one don't feel like laughing at you jokers when your crying cause we can't get rid of him .
