John Skelton's 2012-2013 season took yet another turn Sunday.

Midway through the second quarter of Arizona's game against the Falcons, the former fifth-round pick out of Fordham was replaced in favor of rookie quarterback Ryan Lindley.

Despite three first quarter interceptions by the Cardinals defense, Skelton began the game just 2-for-7 for six yards.

Skelton began the season as the team's starter before suffering a right ankle injury in the team's 20-16 win over the Seattle Seahawks. After Kevin Kolb sustained a rib injury in the fourth quarter of Arizona's Week 6 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Skelton once again took over the starting duties.

In his last three starts, Skelton is 0-3.

Lindley, who was selected in the sixth round by the Cardinals in last April's draft, came into Sunday's game with no career pass attempts.

    Hated the move
Still the 1st half as I type this so maybe I'll be proven wrong before the game ends but as terrible as skelton was to start this game (and my GOSH was he terrible) I really didn't feel this was the time to bring in Lindley. I don't know if he's just bad, just nervous, or just inexperienced, but Lindley has looked even worse then Skelton so far, and thats hard to do. Please get well soon Kolb, we need you to get us a couple wins before you get injured again so we can win enough to just barely miss the playoffs and get a bad draft pick.

I understand you've gotta get a rookies feet wet at some point, but when they pulled skelton this game was very VERY winnable and Skelton, as bad as he was playing, still gave us the best chance to win. So far Lindley is a turn over waiting to happen every time he doesn't hand the ball off. Lindley should have been getting his first NFL time in a game that was already well over, during garbage time, when these jitters (or lack of talent) wouldn't matter. Just my opinion though, like I said, I'd love for Lindley to come out and light it up in the 2nd half, prove me wrong.

    offense is offensive
take away 2 lucky runs of 40 and 52 the offense had 86 yards. This is the norm. We need to trade Fitz for 11 offensive players. we would be better with another teams bench players

    Wizenhut needs to go......
Skelton missed throws but it wasn't like it was his 3rd pick. He was the best chance to win and you saw the Falcons get life knowing a rookie was in. Horrible, absolutely horrible decision. We needed Skelton (good or bad) in the last half and Wiz is too stubborn to see that. If I see SLH up the middle on 3 or 4 and 1 one more time, my season tickets will be up for sale. Wiz just lost the team with that decision and it was very apparent.

    Kolb
As bad as Skelton was he shouldn't have been taken out. Lindley is to inexperienced to come in a game this early and it showed. John is John again with the missed throws etc. It wasn't the offense this time it was the QB's. We need Kolb back and soon ...... Has anyone heard anything about his progress???????????????

since the fans cant fire you, fire Whisenhunt and replace him with Horton. Horton knows the team and he will be a head coach somewhere next year. Why not AZ. Skelton should be cut tonite and bring back Bartell. Lindley gets a pass because that was the first game. Grimm should be relegated to coaching Pop Warner (thats if any team will take him). The head coach is under 500% after 5 years, only my favorite team would keep the coach. I dont think I was the only one privy to #11's,visable fustration.

I really believed the coach panicked today when he pulled Skelton. The coach basically waved the white flag on the season when he inserted Lindley. You also have to wonder how much longer Whisenhunt will be the head coach. How many coaches can survive a 7 game losing streak in 2010, a 6 game losing streak in 2011, and now another 6 game losing streak in 2012.

I agree with you. Whiz and his offensive staff deserve to be canned. Losing streaks of 7,6, & now 6 in consecutive years. The offense has been horrible since KW, and the decision making in regards to QB have been horrible. As a fan I never think I know more than the coaches, but who thought DA was an upgrade over Leinart. And Whiz named Skelton the starter at the beginning. I think Whiz & staff overthink everything. The top coaches just simplify things and stick to the basics, each man does his job.

Fire Whiz & his staff and hire Horton as DC as HC. The offensive coaches have no direction for their QBs even when they do well they struggle. I've never seen them "dominate" a opponent, maybe once with KW. Trade Fitz for draft picks or other offensive players that can contribute to this team other than the WR positions. We need to find a QB, o linemen, RB, and depth at all the above. Love Larry but he's a waste of talent for us and for him. Time to trade and rebuild.
