Seton Hall lets Georgetown’s Tyler Adams get one last dunk

Mar 8, 2015, 7:50 PM | Updated: 7:51 pm

Senior Day was extra special for the Georgetown men’s basketball team, particularly for center Tyler Adams.

Yahoo Sports reports Adams got to suit up for the Hoyas on Saturday for the first time in more than three years.

The 6-foot-9 center’s basketball career was cut short in December 2011, not long into his freshman season. He suffered chest pains during a practice and then was diagnosed with an irregular heart beat.

He has remained a part of the team in the years since his condition was discovered, serving as a student assistant coach and mentor to his teammates.

Now a senior, Adams got to start one final time as the Hoyas took on conference rival Seton Hall.

On Georgetown’s first possession, he posted up on the low block and received an entry pass. Seton Hall players, understanding the moment, backed off Adams and let him dunk one final time.

The Washington Post reports the Georgetown staff began petitioning the NCAA 16 months ago to allow the Brandon, Miss., native to play on Senior Day.

Adams was taken out of the game following the play, but his teammates went on to carry Georgetown to a 73-67 win, improving to 20-9 on the season.

It was an all-around emotional win for the Hoyas, but Seton Hall deserves a lot of credit, too, for helping Adams have a successful send-off.
