The Arizona Wildcats will enter the 2012-13 season with one of the nation's top-rated freshman classes and a fifth-year senior transfer in point guard Mark Lyons.

They're bringing high expectations with them.

In a piece on CBSSports.com, five NCAA hoops writers gave some preseason predictions.

Jeff Goodman, Doug Gottlieb and Jeff Borzello have the Wildcats winning the Pac-12 (UCLA got the other two votes), with Goodman and Gottlieb each picking Arizona to reach the Final Four.

Most Wildcats fans would take that kind of season and call it a success, but Gottlieb goes even further and predicts Arizona to win the National Championship, led by Freshman of the Year Brandon Ashley and Coach of the Year Sean Miller.

Of course, none of this means the Wildcats are destined for big things this season. It's early October and the team has yet to play a meaningful game. But expectations are there, and that's certainly better than the alternative.

It has been a matter of when not if they would get back to national prominence, Led by Seniors Solomon Hill and Kevin Parrom this is a huge Season. Transfer Mark Lyons who played for Miller at Xavier will be the x factor with chemistry being the biggest question as Freshman bigs Brandon Ashley Grant Jerret and Kaleb Tarczewski look to solidify the middle. Guards J Mayes And Hall Of Famer Dennis Johnson's nephew Nick will look to lock down Pac 12s elite guards. Johnson is a high flyer while Mayes is lights out from deep.

Millers 2012-2013 team is deep unlike his previous Arizona teams. Freshman Guard Gabe York out of Southern California and Sophmore Angelo Chol also out of SoCal will solidify an already deep bench. Hill is as good an all around player in the country having played the 4 last season he'll be able to shine at the 3 this year. Parroms ability to size up the opponets best wing wil allow our bigs to crash the boards. Lyons speed and hoop savvy mentality should compliment a very athletic and quick Nick Johnson in the back court. Front Court is loaded and should see a rotation of as many as 6.

The buck dont stop there The Wildcats already have locked up another promising class for 2013 led by Pennsylvania native 6 foot 7 Rondae Jefferson as Sean Miller has reached out to the East Coast taking advantage of his Pennsylvania ties. The ride wont be easy though as UCLAs Ben Howland is bringing in possible one and done and the Nations #1 overall recruit Shabazz Muhammed to town. Side Note Former Duquesne Point Guard transfer TJ McConnell will be eligible next year as he has to sit out a year due to NCAA rules. Good Luck Gentlemen

Nobody cares about college basketball except for people in Tucson. Very sad lives you have down there.

So... You apparently don't live in Tucson, yet you also clearly care about Arizona basketball since you just posted about it...

Perhaps you didn't read the article. National experts are predicting the Final 4 and a National Championship. I'd say a few more people than those in Tucson are taking notice. You will too when we dismantle your pathetic Sun Devils. But hey, you got Jahii Carson! What a joke. Bear Down. That's all.
