Rich Rodriguez just finished his first football season as the head coach of the University of Arizona Wildcats.

His team surpassed all expectations by winning eight games, and following a Gildan New Mexico Bowl victory, the coach was, not surprisingly, pleased with the decision he made last November to take the Arizona job.

"This is a great place, I'm extremely happy, the family's happy," Rodriguez told Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf Monday.

Rodriguez said his children are doing well in school and said "life is good at the U of A" for the Rodriguez clan.

"Now you see why coaches want to come, stay here and retire," he said. "If they want to give me a lifetime contract, let's do it."

Rodriguez signed a five-year, $9.55 million contract to coach the Wildcats last November, and it's doubtful the deal will be reworked quite yet. However, if he continues to have success in the Old Pueblo, he may ultimately get his wish.

    This clown college has really become a master at blowing smoke. Who are you kidding, Rich Rod? That city is a dump which is why everyone bolts once they graduate. Sean Miller nearly left because his wife hated Tucson. UofA is merely putting on a show to make it seem like it's a great place for recruits because everyone knows it isn't. My favorite example of this is the football team dancing on the sideline after TDs to House of Pain. "Look at us. We're having a great time and so can you." Now they tell all their players/coaches tell the media how great of a place it is. LOL.

    Rich Rod has exceeded all expectations at the Old Pueblo and is golden by all of my Wildcat Fan friends. I really do hope he finds the Tucson to his liking and that we can become a family for a long-long time. As for the idiotic comment by the Scum Devil Troll lurking on this site, as one that has traveled all over the country, lived in eight different cities and lived in Europe and Japan, and one who has settled and decided to retire in Tucson, I can attest that it offers everything one needs without the heat-sink and grid lock and over construction of the Phoenix area.
