University of Arizona football Rich Rodriguez did not see the fight that took place on his sideline during the team's 49-48 win in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl Saturday.

Punches were thrown by both junior defensive tackle Tevin Hood and freshman linebacker Cody Ippolito late in the first quarter.

Soon after both players were thrown out of the game. By Rodriguez.

"It's embarrassing," Rodriguez told Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf Monday. "When I saw it afterwards it was embarrassing, and as soon as we found out about it we sent the kids into the locker room and they went home with their parents."

Rich Rod talks about his team's thrilling comeback win over Nevada in the New Mexico Bowl.
Rodriguez said disagreements between teammates happen throughout the course of a season, but he's never had something like that happen on the sideline during a game.

"That's simply not going to happen," he said. "But it's out of character, certainly, for those guys, and we'll deal with them when we come back (from the winter break)."

What, exactly, will become of them?

"They're going to deal with Coach Rod after the break," Rodriguez said.

    I love it
Not the fight! The fashion in which The UofA Men's Football and Basketball teams won their games (because I was born and raised in Tucson) and they way the Cards won their game (cuz I was there and all I wanted was a win).
