ASU linebacker Davon Durant sentenced to probation

Jun 15, 2015, 9:08 AM | Updated: 9:48 am

Arizona State University linebacker Davon Durant was sentenced to probation on Monday in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Durant was arrested in March on allegations of domestic violence and aggravated assault against his girlfriend, Kelsi Langley.

In late May Durant plead guilty to one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

Durant was suspended from the team in March and was unable to participate in spring practice.

“Davon is currently a student taking classes at Arizona State University,” Durant’s attorney, Benjamin Taylor said in a statement. “He wants to graduate from Arizona State University and make a difference in the community.

“Life teaches us all many lessons. This is one for Davon as he seeks to become the best possible person, which means a good boyfriend now, and one day a good husband, father and leader.”

Langley has recanted her claims of what happened on March 6, the day the incident allegedly happened, and also spoke to the media to defend Durant, saying, “Davon would never touch me.”

Durant is a five-star linebacker coming to the Sun Devils from Butler Community College in Kansas.

The school has put the future of his playing days on hold as legal proceedings take place.
