When Jaelen Strong jumped into the air to hook his massive left hand around a 13-yard touchdown toss from Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly during Saturday’s 55-31 win over Notre Dame, fans and analysts alike likely thought, “Man, this kid is for real.”
One ‘analyst’ probably thought, “Man, this kid is fo-rizzle.”
Rapper/football enthusiast Snoop Dogg was watching ASU football beat Notre Dame, or at least that particular play, and later posted a photo of the catch on Instagram:
ASU football head coach Todd Graham had a few thoughts about the catch too.
“Just, wow,” Graham said Monday of his reaction after he watched Strong pull down the ball. “I just went wild. I watched that a lot…I always watch the film after the games…I rewound that quite a few times.”
More traditional recognition was handed out Monday to Sun Devil corner Lloyd Carrington for his performance in the game.
The redshirt junior was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week after recording eight tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble against Notre Dame, as well as picking off Irish quarterback Everett Golson and running it back 58 yards for a touchdown.
“I coach the corners, so I’m really close to Lloyd,” said Graham. “Really proud of him. I thought it was his best game to this point. He has played so physical and (is) one of the most improved players on our team.
“He’s a very quiet guy, silent leader, tremendous character, great athleticism. One of the smartest players that I’ve had the pleasure of working with.”
