Will Sutton (90) and Carl Bradford (52) are two Arizona State Sun Devils who are getting a lot of love from preseason college football magazines. (AP Photo)
I admit it...I'm a college football junkie. Now granted, I'd make some gigantic changes to it if I had the chance -- like a uniform number of conference games for all, outlawing Boise State's blue turf and yes, playoffs -- but it's become my favorite sport.

So when I see college football preview magazines on the shelves at the bookstore, I do get a little excited.

On a recent trip to the newsstand, I picked up not one, not two, but three college football preview magazines. Yeah, it's pretty much a sickness. But I saved the receipt and can probably write it off at the end of the year.

If nothing else ASU fans, I'll save you a trip to the store and about $25 -- here's what Sporting News, Athlon Sports and Lindy's project for the 2013 Sun Devils.

Sporting News

Prediction in Pac-12 South: 2nd

National Ranking: N/A

Bowl Projection: Holiday Bowl vs. Kansas State

First Team All-Americans: Will Sutton, DT

Second Team All-Americans: Chris Coyle, TE

Third Team All-Americans: N/A

First Team Pac-12: Will Sutton, DT

Second Team Pac-12: N/A

Third Team Pac-12: N/A

Miscellaneous Pac-12 Notes

Best Passing QB in Pac-12: Taylor Kelly

Best Pass Rusher in Pac-12: Will Sutton

Best Athlete in Pac-12: Carl Bradford, LB

Sporting News also lists the future battle between Sutton and Stanford guard David Yankey (Sept. 21) as one of the best interior matchups to watch in a single game this season and gives ASU the dubious distinction of having the deadliest non-conference schedule. The Sun Devils will take on Wisconsin (ranked 24th in SN's preseason poll) and Notre Dame (10th) in addition to a tough Pac-12 slate that includes Stanford for the first time since 2010 and a road game at two-time defending Southern Division champion UCLA.

But in their Scouting the Nation section, SN gives the warning "don't sleep on" ASU, saying "the Sun Devils are an experienced team in a winnable division. We'll know more about them after the first five weeks of the season which include games against Wisconsin, Stanford, USC and Notre Dame."

Athlon Sports

Prediction in Pac-12 South: 1st

National Ranking: #23

Bowl Projection: Holiday Bowl vs. Kansas State

First Team All-Americans: Will Sutton, DT

Second Team All-Americans: N/A

Third Team All-Americans: Chris Coyle, TE

First Team Pac-12: Will Sutton, DT

Second Team Pac-12: Marion Grice, RB; Chris Coyle, TE; Alden Darby, S

Third Team Pac-12: N/A

Miscellaneous Notes

• ASU picked as 3rd-best defensive line unit in the nation

• Todd Graham ranked as 10th-best new head coach in 2012

• Sun Devils projected to play against Oregon in Pac-12 Championship Game

Athlon's new coach rankings for 2012 were interesting. Not suprisingly Ohio State's Urban Meyer topped the list followed by Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin, Penn State's Bill O'Brien and Hugh Freeze of Ole Miss. Then, the list got weird. Justin Fuente, who guided Memphis to a 4-8 record in Conference USA (after a two-win season under Larry Porter the year prior) ranked fifth. Arkansas State's Guz Malzahn (now with Auburn), Tim DeRuyter of Fresno State, UCLA's Jim Mora and New Mexico's Bob Davie all ranked ahead of Graham despite the Sun Devils' two-win improvement over 2011, their first bowl win since 2005 and the stark contrast in on-field discipline that lacked under the previous regime.

Lindy's

Prediction in Pac-12 South: 3rd

National Ranking: #37

Bowl Projection: No projection given

First Team All-Americans: Will Sutton, DT

Second Team All-Americans: N/A

Third Team All-Americans: N/A

First Team Pac-12: Will Sutton, DT; Alden Darby, S

Second Team Pac-12: Chris Coyle, TE; Carl Bradford, LB

Third Team Pac-12: Marion Grice, RB; Jaxon Hood, DT

Miscellaneous Notes

• DT Will Sutton listed as fourth-best pro prospect in the Pac-12 and 11th-best in the entire country.

• ASU defensive line unit ranked 10th-best in the nation

• ASU secondary unit ranked 10th-best in the nation

• Will Sutton ranked as #1 defensive tackle in the nation

• Chris Coyle ranked as #3 tight end in the nation

• Alden Darby ranked as #7 safety in the nation

• Carl Bradford ranked as #12 outside linebacker in the nation

• Mike Norvell ranked 9th on Lindy's list of Hot Offensive Coordinators

The Sun Devils landed on Lindy's list of biggest recruiting misses in the Pac-12 for failing to secure in-state talent Kenny Lacy (UCLA), Priest Willis (UCLA), Jalen Ortiz (UCLA), Devon Allen (Oregon), Cole Luke (Notre Dame) and Tyler Bruggman (Washington State).

It's also interesting to note that despite being ranked as the third-best tight end in the nation, Chris Coyle didn't show up anywhere on Lindy's list of the top 20 college fantasy football tight ends. Coyle ranked third among Pac-12 tight ends a year ago with 57 catches for 696 yards.
