According to FOXSportsArizona.com, ASU head coach Todd Graham said the team has hired a new running backs coach on Thursday.
An athletic department source later confirmed the coach joining the Sun Devils is a familiar face, Chris Thomsen.
An official announcement is expected to come on Friday. Thomsen is replacing Larry Porter, who left ASU for Texas last week.
Thomsen joined ASU in December 2011 shortly after Graham was hired but departed only two months later to become Texas Tech's offensive line coach.
Thomsen coached the Red Raiders on an interim basis in the Meineke Car Care Bowl after head coach Tommy Tuberville bolted for Cincinnati. He was not offered a position on new Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury's staff.
ASU ranked third in the Pac-12 and 25th overall with 205.4 rushing yards per game in 2012.
