Report: Ron West hired as ASU's co-defensive coordinator

Reports out of Albuquerque indicate that Ron West, who was recently hired to Bob Davie's staff at New Mexico, will leave the Lobos to become Todd Graham's co-defensive coordinator at Arizona State.

West was the outside linebackers coach at Illinois under Ron Zook from 2010 to 2011, but became available when Zook was fired following the season.

Prior to that, West served as the co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach at Tulsa under Graham in 2009.

He's also coached at West Alabama, North Texas, Texas Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, Baylor, Tulane and Clemson during his college coaching career, which has spanned 32 seasons.

"Coach West made a decision he felt was best for his family, and we wish him the best of luck in the future," Davie said in a statement.

Solid solid coach to bring in to lead and direct our defense. Coach Davie just lost a good coaching mind! I love what is going on and all the right moves that Coach Graham is making!
