Bruins dominate Coyotes, continuing Arizona’s home drought: By the Numbers

The Arizona Coyotes seem to not like playing in their newly-renamed arena.
At least, it appears that way after their latest home loss, this one by the hands of the Boston Bruins.
Boston scored not even a minute into Saturday’s contest, and the visiting club kept piling it in the first and second periods. Arizona was able to end a home scoreless drought when Joe Vitale put the puck in the net with about seven minutes left in the first period, but the Coyotes failed to keep pace with Claude Julien’s squad.
The Bruins took one on the road by a final of 5-2, improving to 15-12-1, which is tied for third-best in the Atlantic division. Arizona dropped to 10-15-3, and is tied with two other teams for the second-fewest home wins this season.
Here’s a look at the Coyotes’ home loss, by the numbers:
3
The loss was Arizona’s third in a row, and its sixth in the last seven outings. The three-game winless streak ties a season-worst, which has happened on four other occasions.
4
Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith was replaced by Devan Dubnyk for the second-straight game — although it happened much, much earlier this time around — and the backup allowed four of the Bruins’ five goals. Dubnyk recorded 20 saves in the 24 shots against him in 34 minutes and 47 seconds of work. Saturday marked only the second time this year that he’s given up four or more goals to an opponent. The 6-foot-6 backup was actually pulled late in the second period, and Smith came back in and finished up the game.
7 (part I)
Arizona has failed to claim victory in seven consecutive home games — a drought that includes two overtime losses.
7 (part II)
The Coyotes have now surrendered five or more goals to an opponent seven times in 2013-14, and they are just 1-6 when that occurs.
8
Vitale’s goal in the first frame ended an eight-period scoreless drought at home for the Coyotes. Arizona went the second period without a goal Saturday, but got one tally early in the final frame.
9
Mikkel Boedker came through on a power play in the third period for his team-leading ninth goal. He is on pace to top the 19 he scored last season.
11:56
Coyotes left wing Jordan Martinook got his first taste of NHL action, and he was a +1 in the box score and took two shots on goal in 11:56 on the ice.
28
Leading Coyotes assist-men Keith Yandle and Antoine Vermette both picked up a helper on Boedker’s third-period goal. Together, Yandle and Vermette have 28 assists this season, and the two are just ahead of Boedker at the top of the points leaderboard for the Coyotes.
