Arizona Coyotes buy out Mike Ribeiro’s contract

The Mike Ribeiro era lasted just one season in Arizona.

“The Coyotes have initiated a buyout of the remaining three years of Mike Ribeiro’s contract. The buyout is in accordance with the NHL/NHLPA Collecting Bargaining Agreement,” Coyotes GM Don Maloney said in a statement. “We wish Mike the best of luck in the future and thank him for his contributions with the Coyotes.”

Ribeiro, who signed a four-year deal worth $22 million last July, appeared in 80 games for the Coyotes last season and tallied 16 goals, 31 assists, 52 penalty minutes and a -13.

The 34-year-old has played 14 NHL seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals and Coyotes, and has career totals of 202 goals, 454 assists and 449 penalty minutes. He also has scored 68 career power play goals and tallied 177 power play assists.
