Glendale officials approved a proposed $320 million deal to keep the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena on Tuesday night.

The new deal was passed by a 4-2 vote.

The renegotiated deal would help Glendale lower payments in the early years of the 20-year deal and would save the city $4 million.

Potential owner Greg Jamison and his group of investors can now take the next step in attempting to complete the purchase of the Coyotes. He has expressed an interest in moving quickly to close the deal with the league.

According to the lease agreement, Jamison has until Jan. 31 to complete the sale of the team. During the meeting, he said he was hoping to complete it within the next 30 to 60 days.

The NHL has owned the franchise since 2009.

    30 to 60 days? Haven't the details all been worked out yet. This is 2012. Both sides have staffs that have drawn up the papers right? Are we waiting on the Pony Express to deliver the papers. NHL can set up conference call in half a day. What's the delay. I'm still a Skeptic. 60 days sounds like a stall tactic.... again.

    I'm sick of hearing about this mess! Hockey is a sport that promotes violence, way more than any other sport and all you sick people in society that go to these games and teach your children it's ok to slam another player against the wall should be ashamed and sterilized! I hope the rest of the season is canceled and the Coyotes lose their butts on this one and leave town!

    Just what sport do you let your kids watch or -shudder-play? Hockey is a highly skilled sport, but it's certainly not for the timid. Learn to skate, then give it a try! You might just grow a set. Glad to get this hurdle out of the way. Now the players and owners need to figure out how to split the millions and lets play some hockey!

    aproved a lease aggreement for a team that doesnt exist. Until NHL and the Union agrees the Coyotes dont exist.

    I want to see this team succeed more than anything, I am a season ticket holder. Never went to a game until last year..But, I hope Jamison and the team will do something so that the ciy dosen't regret this decision and that they sew seeds of good will with all the town. this sport DOES not promote violence any more than any other sport..and when they do fight, they don't hit much if you watch close.
