Diamondbacks starting catcher Tuffy Gosewisch left Wednesday night’s game in St. Louis in the sixth inning after jamming his knee while trying to run out a ground ball.

He stayed on the ground for a few moments holding his knee while trainer Ken Crenshaw ran out to attend to him, then got up and limped off the field under his own power. He did not return to the game, however, and was replaced by backup Jordan Pacheco.

The D-backs went on to lose the game 4-3 on a walk-off throwing error from Pacheco.

Gosewisch will undergo further tests before a roster move is made.

The 31-year-old catcher has played well defensively so far this season, and in the last month alone has thrown out nine of 18 attempted basestealers. He is also batting .211, and in May has hit .254 with nine RBI alongside 16 hits and five walks.
