The Arizona Diamondbacks may have struggled from April 27 to May 3, losing four of the six games they played, but first baseman Paul Goldschmidt did not.
Goldschmidt led baseball with 15 hits — including one home run — during that time, and topped the National League with 22 total bases. He hit .556 and had five multi-hit games. He also drove in six runs and stole two bases during that span.
Monday, he was named the National League Player of the Week for his efforts.
It’s the first career Player of the Week Award for the two-time All-Star, and he beat out St. Louis’ Matt Adams, Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun, Atlanta’s Kelly Johnson and Miami’s Dee Gordon, among others, for the honor.
