Report: Diamondbacks have agreement to trade Wade Miley to Red Sox

The Arizona Diamondbacks may have made their second big trade of the Winter Meetings, as it has been reported they agreed to send starting pitcher Wade Miley to the Boston Red Sox.
#RedSox have agreement in principle for #DBacks‘ Miley, sources tell me and @jonmorosi. AZ will get Webster, De La Rosa and a minor leaguer.

That report was later refuted by The Arizona Republic‘s Nick Piecoro:
Dbacks source says they’ve discussed Webster & De La Rosa with Red Sox in deal for Miley but no agreement has been reached.

The 28-year-old Miley is coming off a season in which he posted an 8-12 record with a 4.34 ERA. He struck out 183 and walked 75 in 201.1 innings pitched.
In 106 games for the D-backs (102 starts), Miley posted a 38-35 record with a 3.79 ERA. He was an All-Star in 2012.
Miley is entering his first year of arbitration eligibility and MLBTradeRumors.com projects he’ll command a salary of $4.3 million in 2015. Since he won’t be a free agent until after the 2017 season, it seems unlikely that a trade of Miley was done purely for financial reasons.
Rubby De La Rosa, 25, is a 6-foot-1, 205-pound right-hander from the Dominican Republic. De La Rosa went 4-8 with a 4.43 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 74 strikeouts in 19 appearances (18 starts) with Boston last season.
Allen Webster, 24, is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-hander from Greensboro, NC. He started 11 games for Boston last season, going 5-3 with a 5.03 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 36 strikeouts.
On #RedSox – #DBacks trade agreement, remember that #DBacks senior VP De Jon Watson had De La Rosa and Webster as #Dodgers prospects.
