The Arizona Diamondbacks made another addition to their front office Thursday, naming Bryan Minniti as their new assistant general manager.
Minniti spent the last five seasons as the assistant GM under general manager Mike Rizzo. In his time there, Minniti assisted Rizzo in all aspects of the baseball operations department, including rules compliance, transactions, budgeting and contract negotiations.
The Nationals won two National League East titles with Minniti on the staff. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics.
There was some speculation that Minniti could land in Los Angeles as the Dodgers’ new GM under baseball operations head Andrew Friedman, but that position remains open.
The D-backs also named Mike Russell as their new special assistant to senior vice president of baseball operations.
Russell was inducted into the Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame in 2013. He has been in the Detroit Tigers organization for the last 13 years.
