How many members of the 2014 Arizona Diamondbacks do you think you could name?

Actually, on second thought, don’t even try.

Fifty-two different players wore the Sedona Red in 2014, a mark that tied a franchise record. The woeful 2004 D-backs also used 52.

Here’s a look at some interesting facts about the expansive D-backs’ 2014 roster.

52

The Diamondbacks used a franchise-record 27 position players and 25 pitchers during the 2014 campaign. Only the Texas Rangers (64), New York Yankees (58), Boston Red Sox (55), Toronto Blue Jays (55) and Los Angeles Angels (54) used more players.

The 27 position players used was the third-most in baseball, behind only Boston (31) and Toronto (29).

11

Of the 25 pitchers used, 11 of them started games for the Diamondbacks. Only three pitchers — Wade Miley, Josh Collmenter and Chase Anderson — made more than 20 starts. Two of those hurlers (Collmenter and Anderson) weren’t even in the starting rotation to start the season. The 11 different starting pitchers were the second-most in franchise history. The D-backs used 12 different starters in both 2004 and 2010.

136

Miguel Montero led the D-backs in games played with 136 — the lowest number for any team leader in MLB. In fact, only Montero and Hill played in 130 or more games this season, again the lowest number for any big league franchise. The Kansas City Royals had the most, with nine players seeing action in 130 or more contests. Boston, Oakland, Houston, San Diego and the Chicago Cubs had only three.

The 2014 season was also the first in D-backs’ franchise history in which the team leader didn’t see action in at least 150 games.

15

Fifteen different players spent some time on the disabled list in 2014, including pitchers Patrick Corbin, Matt Reynolds and David Hernandez, who were on the shelf the entire season.

9

Only nine players from the D-backs Opening Day 25-man roster stayed on the active roster the entire season. The nine: Josh Collmenter, Randall Delgado, Tuffy Gosewisch, Aaron Hill, Wade Miley, Miguel Montero, Oliver Perez, Addison Reed and Brad Ziegler.

17

The D-backs used an unbelievable 17 rookies at some point during the 2014 season.
