Miguel Montero’s 2013 season did not go according to plan, as the Arizona Diamondbacks’ catcher posted a .230 batting average with just 11 home runs and 42 RBI.
The 30-year-old also battled back issues throughout the course of the season, which included a prolonged stint on the disabled list.
Monday, the D-backs announced announced Montero underwent surgery to clean up an infection in his left index finger.
It does not appear to be a serious situation, but the team says it will monitor Montero over the next few days to ensure there are no complications.
