For three seasons, Justin Upton has been at the center of Arizona Diamondbacks trade rumors. Those rumors are now over.

According to various reports, the D-backs have traded Upton to the Atlanta Braves along with third baseman Chris Johnson for outfielder/third baseman Martin Prado, right-handed starter Randall Delgado, shortstop Nick Ahmed, right-hander Zeke Spruill and infielder Brandon Drury.

Upton, a two-time All-Star, will now play alongside his older brother, B.J., who signed a five-year, $75 million deal in the offseason.

At the center of the return for the Diamondbacks is Prado, who was an All-Star in 2010. Last season, Prado hit .301 with 10 homers and 70 RBI in 156 games for Atlanta. Prado, 29, has one year left on his contract. He requested $7.05 million in arbitration from Atlanta and was offered $6.65 from the club.

Delgado started 17 games for the Braves last season, posting a 4-9 record and a 4.37 ERA. He is 22 years old.

Ahmed, 22, was a second round pick of the Braves in 2011. He spent the 2012 season with Lynchburg in Class-A ball. He batted .269 with six home runs and 49 RBI while posting a .963 fielding percentage.

Spruill, is rated as the Braves' ninth-best prospect according to Baseball America. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound righty went 9-11 with a 3.67 ERA in 2012 for Double-A Mississippi. He has a 38-33 record in five minor league seasons after being a second round pick of the Braves out of Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia in 2008.

Drury, 20, was a 13th round selection of the Braves in 2010. He spent 2012 with Rome in the Class-A South Atlantic League, hitting .229 with six homers and 51 RBI while playing primarily the corner infield positions.

    Players we received...
Based on what I see at minorleaguebaseball dot com, here's the breakdown on where they rank these prospects: RHP Zeke Spruill #5 with a B- grade, SS Nick Ahmed #7 with a B- grade, 3B Brandon Drury (not mentioned), Randall Delgado (not mentioned). Bleacher report has them ranked slightly different. They have Zeke 8 and Ahmed 3. So, maybe we did alright in this deal. Hopefully they hang onto Prado also.

    TRADIN' TIME
Good bye Upton and his attitude. Snakes are better off. Now for Kubel,I will miss his bat when he is hitting well, but I'd rather have Parra all around better for team and fanbase. Great return on Upton deal. Most of us thought towers was nuts when he signed/traded for some of the team, not so much folks. Parra, Eaton, Ross and Pollack in the outfield. Looking good ! ! !

    Why Don't D'Back Want Upton?
Does anyone out there have the inside track as to why Towers (and perhaps the entire organization) didn't want Upton? This doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

of you fellas think J-Up is the reigning NL MVP! He hit around .260-.265 & had less than 30 bombs, isn't a RBI guy, isn't the best RF in the field, & you all act like he is balling nonstop. Dude is pretty good but to pay a guy to be your franchise player & not be great well you're traded to ATL & now you can possibly play a different position & be with your bro & Heyward. Yes on paper the Braves OF looks vicious but they'll be beating themselves in the head once they see these 2 brothers nonchalant week in & week out.

The batch of prospects they got in return was disappointing, but Prado is a good player that fills a big need at 3rd. In Arizona we all think of Upton as this superstar, but he hasn't done much to support that on the field, and we expected him to be a leader in the clubhouse, which he wasn't either. Upton was a good player, but he could never carry a team. Regardless of how you feel about this trade, it's positive that Towers is being active and taking steps to improve the team. Unlike their purple and orange neighbors down the street.

    Stats
Upton hit .300 only once in 5 full seasons, hit over 20 home runs only twice, never hit more than 88 RBI, and never struck out less than 121 times.

    Don't understand
Prado career with RISP - .287; Upton - .255. Upton is a decent player but not the franchise player that was force fed to everyone. Fans are so quick to jump onboard the moment an organization deems this guy is "The One!" No one reserves judgement anymore. I still feel Upton was mismanaged and that he may have developed differently had he no been put on a pedestal. Six months in the minors at a new position before getting the call. It is entirely possible, even with proper development, he would not have panned out as a "Super Star".
