For three seasons, Justin Upton has been at the center of Arizona Diamondbacks trade rumors. Those rumors are now over.

According to various reports, the D-backs have traded Upton to the Atlanta Braves along with third baseman Chris Johnson for outfielder/third baseman Martin Prado, right-handed starter Randall Delgado, shortstop Nick Ahmed, right-hander Zeke Spruill and infielder Brandon Drury.

Upton, a two-time All-Star, will now play alongside his older brother, B.J., who signed a five-year, $75 million deal in the offseason.

At the center of the return for the Diamondbacks is Prado, who was an All-Star in 2010. Last season, Prado hit .301 with 10 homers and 70 RBI in 156 games for Atlanta. Prado, 29, has one year left on his contract. He requested $7.05 million in arbitration from Atlanta and was offered $6.65 from the club.

Delgado started 17 games for the Braves last season, posting a 4-9 record and a 4.37 ERA. He is 22 years old.

Ahmed, 22, was a second round pick of the Braves in 2011. He spent the 2012 season with Lynchburg in Class-A ball. He batted .269 with six home runs and 49 RBI while posting a .963 fielding percentage.

Spruill, is rated as the Braves' ninth-best prospect according to Baseball America. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound righty went 9-11 with a 3.67 ERA in 2012 for Double-A Mississippi. He has a 38-33 record in five minor league seasons after being a second round pick of the Braves out of Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia in 2008.

Drury, 20, was a 13th round selection of the Braves in 2010. He spent 2012 with Rome in the Class-A South Atlantic League, hitting .229 with six homers and 51 RBI while playing primarily the corner infield positions.

    Prado's a rental
Prado will probably be gone after this year, he's a FA next year, so the players to focus on is Randall Delgado and Nick Ahmed to a lesser extent.... kinda bummed they didnt bring back Terehan in place of Delgado though.

    As a Giants fan...
who lives in the Valley, I am happy Upton was moved out of the division! I still enjoy the local team being competitive though, always good to have a certain "buzz" in the Valley, I disagree with them trading him. Upton is 24....let me repeat that, 24 years old! He has already had a couple of very solid seasons and will only continue to improve into his late 20's. MVP type talent, oh DBacks when will you learn?

    Good Trade
It seemed like Towers painted himself in a corner with Upton so you have to give him credit for pulling this off. IMO, great value for Upton at this stage. Prado--solid upgrade both offensively and defensively at 3B, lifetime .300 hitter who might be getting better. One of those guys that every good run-producing lineup needs because he makes contact and creates runs--not to mention his versatility--the guy plays a good OF and IF which is big. He will fit nicely in the 2 slot moving Eaton around the bases and getting on for Kubel, Goldie and Montero.

    Good Trade II
Delgado--a live arm and good stuff. Still young but he showed some flashes of brilliance. If he can cut down on the walks, he has the stuff to be a solid #3 starter. Prospects: Spruill (SP), Ahmed (SS), Drury (3B) these guys are good prospects in ATL system, top 13 guys. Spruill (6) and Ahmed (10) just had great seasons in the AZ fall league and Drury (13) just started his minor league career so he has 3 years to develop. ATL fans are upset about this trade already, even though they got the superstar, and that is telling.

    Fair deal but...
For all that talk about a deal needing to blow us away to accept it, this deal really doesn't seem that amazing, this seems more like the sort of deal you accept when it was you who were actively pursuing trading a player, not when another team convinced you to part with a player you other wise planned to keep. That said, the deal seems fair, d-backs upgraded at an area of weakness and downgraded at a position of depth. I don't know that this trade makes us better, but I don't necessarily feel we shot ourselves in the foot either, which was my biggest fear with the upton trade rumors.

    Bear in Mind
He only started 20 games last year at 3rd. He may be good there or he may not. Most of his starts were in the outfield so we will see how good he is when playing 3rd full time.

    Ahmed
at least he's got a .963 fielding percentage! I love how that stat gets put out there when there is nothing else good to point out about a guy.

    Towers
continues to run this team like a bad fantasy owner. Looks like he's following the Suns model-no stars, lots of ok players. The results will be similar.Depth is about as exciting as cap space. I am holding out hope that this is some grand plan by Towers to package a bunch of pitchers and acquire a true superstar, a new franchise face. But I doubt it.
