Prior to the 2010 season, the Arizona Diamondbacks dedicated a portion of their ballpark to right fielder Justin Upton.

Aptly named 'Uptown', the right field bleachers were a tribute to the player who was supposed to be a perennial All-Star and face of the franchise.

While Upton has shown glimpses of being that guy, his inconsistency has caused some to doubt his future.

And Thursday, Arizona Sports 620's John Gambadoro reported Chase Field's future will no longer included Uptown.

It's tough not to read anything into the move, especially with persistent trade rumors surrounding the player. Should the D-backs trade the outfielder they would have to get rid of the section, so this could be a pre-emptive move.

Then again, it's possible this decision has no ties to Upton's future other than the player not wanting his own section in the ballpark.

    That's because...
He's been traded to Seattle today. He can block the trade as Seattle is on his no trade list. this is getting ugly.

    Didnt deserve it
He acts like he is a franchise player. But, he sure doesnt perform like one. Glad the MGMT pulled the trigger on that. I have no prob with him turning the offer down, I wouldnt go either. But, he just gave the DBacks enough juice to send him anywhere they want, not on his trade list. Be careful what you ask for Justin. Dont be surprised if you end up a different cellar team. Do what you were paid to do and be thankful for what you were given. P.S. - its time to put your big boy pants on, cuz I have a feeling its gonna get a little rough.

    Dbacks
are not handling this very tactfully, which tells me they have no intention of keeping Upton. I'm betting this was decided long ago.
