According to ESPN senior baseball writer Buster Olney, the Arizona Diamondbacks have found a prospective bidder for outfielder Justin Upton.

Unfortunately for the Diamondbacks, the Seattle Mariners are on Upton's no-trade list.

For the last few seasons, Upton has been on and off the trade block. Whether or not to keep the 25-year-old outfielder has been the main discussion surrounding the organization.

The addition of outfielder Cody Ross to an already crowded depth chart that includes Jason Kubel, Gerardo Parra and up-and-comer Adam Eaton -- along with Upton -- likely led to an increased probability of the D-backs parting with one of their outfielders.

Kubel was then thrown into the trade rumors along with Upton, catching the eye of the New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles. However, the D-backs know Upton provides the better return value of the two.

The latest Upton rumors point to the two-time All-Star being moved to either the Mariners, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves or Texas Rangers, with the Mariners being the latest front-runner.

The Padres trade rumors involved third baseman Chase Headley for Upton, though talks failed to progress.

While the Braves and Rangers have prospects and talent to offer, it's hard to see from Towers perspective of who the Mariners have that will convince the D-backs to part with the former number one overall pick.

But if Towers and the organization are favoring the Mariners like Olney reports, the Diamondbacks would have to seek the approval of Upton himself.

    I don't get it.
I wish these trade rumors would just stop. But as we all know, where there's smoke... there's fire. I just don't understand why the organization would want to trade this kid. Sure he struggled last season, but he's too talented not to bounce back. Keep this kid and move someone else. But at this point with all the trade talk, he can't feel like he's wanted, so how will he ever bounce back? ::sigh::

    Can these rumors just stop?...
All I get from this report all and all the ones back to the trade deadlines is that they mean absolutely nothing. Just people needing a story when they don't have much going on. What will happen in a few week? Let me tell you they will have a report that a source says that a deal was not close because they could not agree or one that says a third party is involved which will lead to nothing.

Also let think things through. These rumors are because of the Cody Ross signing. Since when in the minds of anyone is Cody Ross a viable replacement for Upton? So your telling me that the D Backs management signs Ross and says "Oh, now we can give up our younger player (25) who has more speed, range, and power because we got a 31 year old Ross." I don't think so. Fully B.S.

I'm in the minority here, but..
I say trade him. He has a ton of potential, but he's never really realized it... he's had two really good seasons and his attitude sucks. The only reason he hasn't been traded already is the DBacks think he has more value than the rest of the league does.

    This is getting silly
These Upton rumors are beyond annoying, they're wastes of time. Every team wants a Justin Upton (young budding superstar under a manageable deal) but nobody will meet KT's asking price, as they're offering 3 quarters on the dollar and he's asking for $1.50. Eaton will have to languish in AAA and we'll deal Kubel or Parra to a contender by the trade deadline.

To trade or not to trade
seems to be the question but yet nobody is wanting to trade him. Why the heck not? So how much longer do you wait for him to become a Super Star? By that time more teams may not be willing to part with talent to obtain him & we may be on the verge of another big contract just because. I was all for the TX trade or the TB trade but those failed. I can see the Headley deal because it improves us drastically @ 3rd base, finally gives us a RBI guy, & improves us defensively at 3rd & RF when Parra takes over. Ross will put up the same numbers so you do not lose anything.

    Fantasy Teams
I sometimes think these "insiders" are just talking about how they'd put together their fantasy teams. Of course, I'm starting to wonder if KT has gone mad with power. Too much tweaking once again is not the answer. I agree with someone above, if it's for King Felix, then take it. But I'd like to see how well Upton performs without CY. And if he has a great year, then they are going to have to trade him because after all of this, even if the D-Backs could afford him, you really think he re-signs with the team? I don't.
