The D-backs will have brand new batting practice caps in 2013. The redesign received high marks from one analyst (Photo by ESPN.com).
The Arizona Diamondbacks will be receiving a bit of a makeover heading into 2013, and this time GM Kevin Towers had no hand in the matter.

The makeover will take place to the design of the team's batting practice cap. In fact, all 30 MLB teams will have new BP hats next season, but at first glance the D-backs might have been one of the few to receive an upgrade.

Instead of having Sedona red dominate the cap, Arizona's new look will primarily feature black with a Sedona red bill and logo.

ESPN.com's Uni Watch expert Paul Lukas ranked all 30 teams, and the D-backs were one of seven clubs to receive an A grade or higher.

    Batting practice caps?
Man, I've been away too long..I played college baseball, then for 30 years was OBSESSED with long distance running to the exclusion of everything else..but I don't recall batting practice caps. I know about the new pitching caps being considered because of Brandon Mccarthy, but this is a new one...Are they padded or something?
