Yahoo! Sports’ Wojnarowski: Suns likely to be ‘really active’ this offseason

By Wednesday morning, the Phoenix Suns’ 2014-15 season will be over.
Chances are, you won’t find many people who are upset about that.
The season began with high expectations but is finishing with not only a losing record, but a loss of confidence in the organization’s ability to get the team back into the playoffs.
No matter what your opinion is of the franchise and its direction, there’s little debate that some changes are going to have to be made.
Yahoo! Sports NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski told Bickley and Marotta on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Monday that he believes the Suns will be active this offseason.
“I think they’ll be really active this year looking around the league,” he said. “They have lots of young players and certainly draft picks that would appeal to teams.
“I think they could be involved, or potentially involved in big deals.”
Along with young players and draft picks, the Suns will also have a good amount of salary cap space to work with this summer. Of course, they could lose some of that if they bring back some of their own free agents, like Brandan Wright, Brandon Knight or Gerald Green, but as of now they project to have ample room to try and add an impact player or two.
Wojnarowski sees the Suns trying to make a splash in the free agent market.
“I think they’ll be active in free agency in July; I think they can be in the mix for some significant free agents, potentially,” he said. “It’s still a place, I think guys in the league like the idea of playing in, it’s still seen as an organization that…certainly, geography is appealing to people there.”
Two seasons ago, the Suns won 25 games. Last season, the number ballooned to 48. This season has been a struggle in pretty much every way imaginable.
“I think they’ll rebound from this,” he said. “They clearly took a step back this season, but they’ve got a chance here, with a lot of picks to either get lucky here in the lottery or use those picks to go out and make more deals.”
