The Phoenix Suns made a trade with the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, sending forward Anthony Tolliver to the Pistons in exchange for forward Tony Mitchell.
Mitchell, a second round draft pick by the Pistons in the 2013 NBA Draft, averaged 8 points and 7 rebounds in six games with the Grand Rapids Drive of the NBA Development League. The forward appeared in 21 games with Detroit in 2013.
According to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, the Suns will likely waive Mitchell to open up a roster spot and save about $2 million.
After the trade, Phoenix will have about $6 million in cap space this season, according to Gambadoro.
Tolliver was in his first season with the Suns. He played in 24 games, averaging 3 points in 11 minutes per game.
Tolliver is in his seventh NBA season and will be joining his seventh team.
