The Phoenix Suns are not going to make the playoffs, which means they will be in the draft lottery for the third time in three seasons. Unlike the last couple of trips, though, they are projected to pick pretty high. And to top it off, they will add a second lottery pick to the arsenal if the Los Angeles Lakers fail to qualify for the postseason. If the Lakeshow reaches the playoffs, the Suns will instead receive Miami's pick, which promises to be very late in the first round.

This page will keep you updated on where the potential lottery picks stand.

    Blowing their chances
I love the Suns & admit that we needed to see it hit the bottom if we're going to re-build for the long haul. This year they seemed to be on pace to get a possible difference maker in the draft, coupled with a 2nd solid piece from the Lakers. It's a shame to think a top 7-10 pick won't make a difference but, frankly, it won't. If Zeller is the projection, that won't help; won't make a dent in the NBA. I'd take Gortat. Worst #7 picks Corey Brewer Tim Perry Chris Mihm Eddie Griffin Bobby Hurley Best #7 picks Eric Gordon Damon Stoudamire Rick Hamilton Kevin Johnson Chris Mullin

    Bottom out is just myth!
This draft is so bad that bottoming is going to do zero for the Suns. At best it gives you another role player. There isn't one projected lottery pick that is as good as last year's pick Anthony Davis and Davis is not that good! Maybe in a couple of years Davis might mature enough to be a force buit he isn't now and he won't be next year either. This one and done crap is ruining college basketball and the NBA. These kids aren't ready when they come out, and trying to re-build with these kids is not very sound strategy. Draft is a total crap shoot.

    Talent
While I agree there may not be a superstar akin to LBJ or Kobe in the draft, I do think there will end up being quite a few allstars. I would love to get Mclemore, Shabazz, or Smart. The funny thing is we have started playing our younger guys and have actually gotten better. Who would have thought!?

    bottom out!
No azgbayfan, we have to bottom out because you want to have more choices of the best player available to take and build with. Yes there might not be a superstar, but a potential #2 option might be had if we get high enough. Winning does nothing with a team that has no young talent. Suck for the next three years and then make your move FA wise and get back to the playoffs. Play Beasley at least so we can lose.

    no talent
Suns the new Clippers? But Suns will never have a number one pick. Basketball has no talent. The kids need to stay in school for min of 3 yrs just to learn the fundamentals. College ball is nothing but advance high school. Play their freshman yr go pro and of course the NBA needs them because the current NBA players are playing like its college ball. The D league doesnt do a good job at developing players.

I don't know how you could possibly get a number 2 option out of this draft. These kids are all freshmen and sophmores Their skills have not developed. What you are really drafting is athletic ability. Certainly no guarantee of success. The Clippers, Cavs, Wizards,Twolves and others have loaded up on lottery picks. Those kids take 3 or 4 yrs to develop if they develop at all, The Clippers were nothing until they brought Paul and Crawford, Blake Griffin needed Chris Paul to succeed, and Griffin is far better than anyone in this draft

    Look No Further
Take a look at the kid the Suns drafted last year, Marshall. He cannot shoot, dribble or defend. The only thing he can do is pass and mostly to someone that is closely guarded. These kids need to stay in school and learn how to play.

Bottoming out needs to be done
I have always been against losing games just to get a better draft position. But with a couple months to go in the season, and no hope to make the playoffs, there really is no upside to winning games the rest of the way.

    Continued
Is it nice to have hope for the future and know that our young players are improving? Absolutely. The fans and, more importantly, the organization, need to know who they have on their hands going into the offseason. But the Suns are in a position to land 2 potentially key contributors in this year's draft. Say what you want about the quality of the draft class, but the Suns need to acquire the absolute best players they can get their hands on in this draft, and they need to lose, lose and lose some more to do so.

    Also keep in mind
that it's easy for we as fans to say that there's not going to be any difference between the #5 pick and the #15 pick. The Suns organization does not have that luxury, they need the highest pick(s) they can get.
