According to Yahoo.com, the Phoenix Suns have serious interest in New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert.

The Suns are willing to give New York a package that includes forward Jared Dudley and possibly a future first-round pick for Shumpert, but the Knicks have so far shown no inclination to do such a deal, sources said.

Shumpert returned to the Knicks in January after suffering a tear in his left cruciate ligament in the team's first game of last year's playoffs.

In his second season, Shumpert has averaged 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 11 games.

The Suns have reportedly had scouts watching Shumpert the past week.

Dudley still has three years and $12.8 million left on his contract with the Suns. He has averaged 11.8 points and 3.6 rebounds this year.

    That is wayy...
Too much if we're offering a first as well. I'd rather keep Duds and stick to the plan using our draft picks. PS: Daria you are really cute.

    This makes no sense....
Which means it's pretty much a sure thing Blanks will find a way to make this happen. Dudley for Shumpert straight up is questionable...but throwing in a 1st round pick as well is just plain stupid.

    Agree
I agree that it's way too much. Shumpert is a great player and will be in the league many years. That said he is not more than a role player. He will not be the star we need. If we were talking Dudley OR a pick than maybe, but not both.

    Front Office at it again.
This kind of reminds me when Blanks traded Goran Dragic and a first round pick for Aaron Brooks. Please Knicks don't do this trade!

    Who cares?
Suns are unwatchable anyway. Just more of the incredible ineptness by Suns management.

    nsawy28 nailed it
This really truly feels like that dragic and a 1st rounder for brooks deal... only I'd argue this trade makes even less sense and seems even more one sided in favor of the team that doesn't call phoenix home. I wouldn't mind, say, giving up two second round picks for shumpert, he's easily worth that and I'd like to have the guy, but if I had to choose between him and Dudley I'd actually choose Dudley, and theres is NO reason to be giving up 1st round picks during a rebuilding year.

    Sadly...
The sad part is that on almost any other team (except maybe the d-backs, half of Towers trades these days seem like he's actively trading away talent for nobodies for reasons only he knows) I'd assume this was a fake rumor some one through out there just to stir the pot on a slow news day, but the Suns have shown in the past a willingness to intentionally mortage their future to maintain status quo in the present (aka, not actually improve, just change the names on the roster) so while it would upset me, I wouldn't be shocked if I heard this trade went down.

Who else would NY send to the Suns to make salary work?

If Shumpert was good, why didn't we draft him?
A few years back Shumpert was on the Suns draft radar, and I specifically remember Gambo talking to a college teammate of Shumpert's about his offensive skills; in college his D was his strength. If he was as good as the current administration seems to think, he wouldn't have gone 17th overall to the Knicks, the Suns would have taken him at 13 over Kieff. JD3 is worth way more than Shumpert (minimum ceiling: sixth man of the year on a good team).

In re: to nsawy28 AND DanTheTimid
In regards to the Goran comments, I would like to add that I am a giant Bill Simmons fan, and read him religiously. The dude is friends with Daryl Morey, GM of the Rockets, aka the guy who robbed Suns of Goran Dragic and a #1 draft pick. From what I have read, the Rockets have a gangbusters stat department full of interns who put together oddball stats like "pass before the credited assist pass" and other baseball-esque yet unusual stats. So when I saw the Brooks-Dragic deal and the Markieff vs Marcus Morris drafts I was worried. Turns out I was not wrong to be so.
