The Phoenix Suns coaching staff continues to change, as Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro tweeted Monday night.

Majerle, who played eight seasons with the Suns and is one of the most popular players in franchise history, became an assistant coach in 2008 and guided the Suns summer league teams in Las Vegas for four seasons.

Majerle's status was up in the air after the Suns fired head coach Alvin Gentry Friday and named player development coordinator Lindsey Hunter as the interim coach Sunday -- bypassing both Majerle and Elston Turner, who has 14 years of assistant coaching experience in the NBA.

Majerle will be paid in full for the rest of the season.

The team was also planning a Dan Majerle Fathead promotional giveaway for the January 30 game against the Los Angeles Lakers, but that is now in doubt due to Majerle's departure.

Hunter will make his debut on the Suns bench Wednesday night in Sacramento against the Kings.

    Good for him...
This team is a laughingstock. Thunder Dan is a very good coach doesn't need to rot in this stink hole.

He probably could have ridden out the storm, but most likely is sick to his stomach at what the organization has become. Babby and Blanks has truly changed the once proud suns into the bottom feeders of the league.

    This hurts
As a Suns fan this hurts. I hope this is the final straw and that the fan base makes it heard and known to the front office that we dont support this direction they are taking this franchise.

    Sorry
To continue my thought before my dog sat in my lap... Anyone with a ticket to the day of the Dan Majerle Fathead game, don't show up. Let'em play in front of about 500 people. I know it sounds unfair to the players, but that'll get Sarver's attention.

The fans don't support this move, team, front office, owner. Unbelievable equine feces. I'm so mad at Sarver/Blanks/Babby. They trashed our team, disrespected one of the most honored Suns players in history and have promoted a guy with 0 experience. I'm furious and I hope the rest of the fans say something. Let's make Sarver sell this team. If he's gonna screw with us, we gotta screw with him. Jerk.

    I cannot believe
What disrespect the front office has for Dan Majerle! This was just a giant slap in the face to one of the most famous Suns of all time! This guy was a hero to me growing up... The very first game I ever saw of any sport was Majerle and the Suns battling the Bulls in game 6 of the NBA finals. I was 5 years old! Suns fans too got a slap in the face when this happened... I would love the fans that go to the next home game to make ESPNs top ten by chanting throughout the game Sarver sucks! Hopefully he will get the point!

No more Suns games for me & my boys. I will not waste my money for such experience on the court and in the management. Boy do I miss Jerry Colangelo.

    So Long Thunder Dan
As a couple of others mentioned, he's probably a bit relieved (maybe a lot relieved) to be out of this mess. He likely wanted the HC job but when the mgmt clowns passed over him and Turner, I can't imagine either of them wanting any part of this sideshow any longer. Good luck #9.

    Management
Sarver and HIS boys are doing a fine job of seperating the team from the community. He must not look or care about the empty seats. Dan and Elston must not be "yes" men but Hunter looks like he is. Sarver is the owner so he MUST be right NOT!!!. Somebody has to be the door mat for the western division of the NBA, so why not the Suns, right Robert ??
