It took the Phoenix Suns front office 48 hours, but they finally named an interim head coach to replace Alvin Gentry Sunday.

According to Arizona Sports 620's Craig Grialou, Gentry's replacement will come in the form of player development coordinator Lindsey Hunter.

Hunter, who became the player development coordinator in August 2012, played 17 NBA seasons with the Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls.

He last played in the league in 2010 and was the No. 10 overall pick out of Jackson State in 1993. Before coming to Phoenix, the 42-year-old previously was a player development assistant with the Bulls.

Hunter takes over a team in desperate need of a change. At the halfway point this season, the Suns are 13-28 and in the last place in the Western Conference.

Assistant coaches Elston Turner, Dan Majerle and Igor Kokoskov were also up for consideration.

    Not a surprise
Lindsey was brought in by Blanks this season to become HC for the suns. Just alittle sooner than expected.

    Okay
As much as I wanted Thunder Dan to be named the interim head coach I wouldn't want to see him be put in a terrible situation like the Suns are in right now. The good thing about Lindsey Hunter is the Suns will continue to get worse and will increase their chances at a better draft pick this year. Lets just hope after this disappointing season they don't keep Lindsey Hunter as the Head Coach for the 2013-14 season.

    The next time Babby
interviews, he should keep quiet about saying he listens to the fans. He's one of the guys who created this mess and could've helped the situation a little by giving it to Thunder Dan. Time to make some changes in the front office as well.

Hunter was the one brought to take over anyway & probably wanted the least amount of money.

    Bad Choice!
Bad choice by Blanks. Not a surprise considering all the bad choices that this management team has made. Hunter won't succeed either. This will just prove how bad Blanks and Babby are. Everyone knows that this team is full of role players and no go to guys. Changing the coach won't help this. Their plan of rebuilding though the draft will fail as well. This team needs an established go to player now. Not wait 2,3 or 4 yrs for a draft pick to develop.

    Just what was asked for
It seems that all the people who wanted to start over an rebuild this team, have gotten their way. Hope they enjoy it. It will be many years before this team ever gets back to what it once was almost every year. There is no commitment to winning on the part of management, only a commitment to financial stability. That seems to come with the TV contracts, and any good support from the fans. But be careful of the fan support, that is fading, I have lost interest after 40 years, good job management, keep it up.
