Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd is entering his fourth season in the league, one that is arguably the most important of his career thus far.
CBSSports.com writer Joel Corry said that Floyd is the Cardinals’ representative in his list of players at a career crossroads for each NFL team.
Corry, a former sports agent, offered this take on Floyd:
Michael Floyd, WR: The Cardinals reportedly were willing to listen to trade offers for Floyd around the NFL draft but weren’t actively shopping him. Floyd’s fifth-year option in 2016 for $7.32 million was picked up. Whether Floyd receives a long-term deal from the Cardinals or is allowed to test free agency could hinge on the development of 2015 third-round pick John Brown, who has been compared favorably to T.Y. Hilton.
Floyd was the team’s 2012 first-round pick out of Notre Dame, and has caught 157 passes for 2,444 yards and 13 touchdowns in three seasons.
Last season, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound wide receiver caught 47 passes for 841 yards and a career-high six touchdowns.
