The Arizona Cardinals released defensive lineman Darnell Dockett last Friday because they had little interest in paying his salary, which was set to be $6.8 million for 2015.
At the time, the organization maintained it would like to have the 33-year-old return, but only at the right price.
Since then, Dockett has visited with at least the San Francisco 49ers, helping to gauge his value as well as determine if he is ready to leave the only NFL franchise he has ever known.
Well, it appears he’s nearing a decision, and no matter what he will remain in the NFC West.
Former Cardinals DT Darnell Dockett expected to decide today between 49ers and Cardinals, though Rams and Seahawks also interested.

Dockett missed the entire 2014 season after tearing his ACL in training camp. In 2013, he posted 46 total tackles with 4.5 QB sacks and 10 tackles for loss.
In his career, the former third-round pick out of Florida State has amassed 40.5 sacks.
Wednesday morning, as a guest on the NFL Network, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians talked about the defensive lineman.
“I hope, Darnell knows how I feel about him personally and as a player,” the AP Coach of the Year said when asked about the chances of Dockett being back in Arizona. “It’s the hard part of the business. I get very attached to guys so I let that part up to Steve Keim and his people.
“Darnell knows how we stand and where we stand and how we feel about him.”
