Every day, ArizonaSports.com asks readers a question. It’s the Sanderson Ford Poll Question of the Day, and it can be found midway down the right side of our home page.
Earlier this week, we asked who has been the Arizona Cardinals’ MVP through the first half of the season.
A total of 1,285 votes were submitted, and 55 percent of Cardinals fans believe running back Andre Ellington is the team’s first half MVP.
Ellington leads all Cardinals with 872 yards from scrimmage (559 yards rushing and 313 yards receiving). His 109 yards per game ranks seventh in the NFL and fifth among running backs.
In addition to his team-leading 149 carries, the second year running back out of Clemson is second on the team in receptions with 32.
Coming in second with 17 percent of the vote was linebacker Larry Foote — who is third on the team with 41 total tackles. The 34-year-old also has a sack, an interception and three passes defensed.
Quarterback Carson Palmer fell nine votes short of second place. Palmer is 5-0 in his starts this season, throwing for 1,385 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has limited his turnovers as well, throwing just two interceptions.
Fan favorite Larry Fitzgerald came in fourth with four percent of the vote. No. 11 leads all Cardinals wide receivers in catches (35) and receiving yards (513). He has also scored a pair of touchdowns.
Nine votes behind the wide receiver was defensive end Calais Campbell. Campbell leads all Arizona defensive linemen in tackles with 22 despite missing two games with a knee injury.
Three percent of voters thought someone not on the list deserved to be the MVP.
